Maegan's Baptism!

Finally I'm to one of the bigger events of the summer.  Maegan was baptized by her Uncle Ryan on June 5, 2010.  That particular morning she was still at her dad's house so I was able to go to the store and buy all the food we would need for the luncheon.  Given the fact that I had only been home one day out of the previous week I was really pushing for time.  After the store I prepared as much as the food as I could and then went to pick the girls up from Sean.  When we got home I got everyone ready and then Lisa came over and helped me get tables set up in the backyard.  Finally it was time to head over the stake center.

This stake seems to be much more organized than when Jordyn was baptized.  They had greeters at the door that assigned rooms for us and helped us in all sorts of ways.  It was really nice.  Our ward was scheduled last for baptisms because there were SIX kids getting baptized!  Yes, this was a record for the ward and people were making a pretty big deal of it.  Because there were so many kids the program took place in the chapel.  I said the opening prayer and after the talks they were going to baptize two kids at a time and then everyone was to go back to the chapel where all the confirmations would take place.  However, we had special circumstances due to the fact that Ryan and Brynlie had flown in from Missouri and they had to leave for the airport early in the afternoon.  Maegan was baptized first by her uncle Ryan.  Maegan was full of smiles as she walked into the water.  My Grandpa Madsen and good friend, Justin Barrett were the witnesses.  After the baptism Ryan and Maegan got mixed up and accidentally went up the wrong side so they had to go back down in the font and come back up on the right side.  After the baptism we were able to go to the Primary Room.  Ryan gave Maegan a beautiful blessing.  I am so grateful he was willing to take the time (and money) to come to Utah and do perform these sacred ordinances for her.

I kind of felt guilty leaving the church as everyone else was still waiting for the rest of the baptisms to take place.  Don't worry, that only lasted for a second!  After we left the church and came back to my house for the luncheon.  We had these little ham and cheese mini-melted sandwiches that (I'm sure they have a name but I don't know what it is, all I know is they are really yummy), a couple different chips and dip, broccoli salad, fruit salad and drinks.  For desert I made white cakes that have a cream cheese/sugar/whipped cream layer and then a fruit glaze.  I made one with raspberry and one with strawberry.  However, I kept thinking they looked different when I finally realized I had forgotten to mix in the cool whip.  So, we just added it to the top and it tasted just the same.  Mmmm.... they were yummy!

Maegan was given many things to commemorate her special day.  I gave her a new set of scriptures with her name embossed on them.  My grandma gave her a scripture case (pink camo which I though was hilarious).  She was given a couple different books to write down her memories of the day from Grandma Tangren and Ryan and Ali their family.  She was also given a journal from her primary teacher.  She also received some beautiful jewelry and another journal from her dad and Ashley.  It was wonderful to be able to share this special day with her friends and family!

How sweet to read about the baptism day! That is so crazy that SIX kids got baptised from the same ward! We don't even have Stake baptisms here, and every kid has their own day. By the way, I LOVE the quotes from Maegan about the cat's not being married and the McDonald's workers! I laughed out loud!!
