Finding Joy in the Journey
Melissa,
You are a GREAT mom! You do so much for your kids!
What a fun month! I'm so glad we were able to see you and catch up.
Brooklen: The morning of 1/19/14 she said to Maegan, "If you see me acting like this (a gorilla) that means I farted." ha ha!
Brooklen: While driving past a karate studio she says, "Mom, you should sign me up for karate because I'm really good at hurting people."
Maegan: We were driving in the car when Maegan started telling me that her toes were asleep. I thought she meant when your circulation gets cutoff and kind of dismissively said, "Oh, really?" She then said, "Yeah, they're not moving at all." Oh my gosh I cracked up at that one.
Maegan: Jordyn was talking to me about Eleanor Roosevelt and asked if she was the president. I said, "No, she was the First Lady" and was going to explain who she was married to when Maegan interjected and said very astonishedly, "EVER?!?" I had to remind her that Eve, was the "first lady" and explained what type of "first lady" I was referring to.
Jordyn: We were driving in the car when she randomly said, "Nobody touch my right nostril because it's sore." Seriously? I can't remember the last time I touched someone's nostril, or anyone touching her nostril for that matter.
Maegan: There was a rainbow today (10/5/10) and the girls were wondering if you could touch one. I explained that they could not touch one and told them all about refraction and all the boring stuff that a rainbow really is. Jordyn then was wondering if you could put your hands through it (smart girl that she understood what I was saying, right?) so I explained that wouldn't work because it's going to appear as though it's moving based on where you are looking at it and said that's why no one can ever find "the end of the rainbow". Apparently Maegan wasn't paying attention to anything else I had said because she very excitedly asked, "Why? Does it go underground?"
Brooklen: While looking at pictures of she and her sisters she said, "Mom, I was the littlest because I got out of your tummy last huh?"
Maegan: "Mom, do cat's have to get married?" "No, why?" "Well then how come they can have babies when they're not married?"
Maegan: "Mom, when the grown ups who work at McDonalds stop working do they get to go play at the play place?"
Maegan: On April 27, 2010 Jordyn and Maegan were talking about what they had played on at recess. Jordyn said she went down the fire pole and it burned her hands. Maegan said, "Me too. That's why they call it a 'fire pole'. " This girl seriously cracks me up!
Jordyn: "Mom" "What?" I replied. "I have long-term memory! I can seriously remember things for a long time!" I started laughing and she said, "What? I can!"
Brooklen: "Mommy, my tummy was growling in my bedroom so can I have something to eat?"
Brooklen: Driving to work one morning she was looking at the wind turbines spinning at the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon. In a very serious voice she said, "It's a good thing I don't have to go on those because I would have to go upside down and I don't like going upside down."
Maegan: My Home Teachers came over and as they were leaving they asked if I needed anything. Maegan pipes up and says, "I know something we need! Tuna fish!" They were laughing so hard.
Brooklen: After running around the house for a while Brooklen came up to me and asked, "Mom, what's inside my body that's going thump, thump, thump?"
Brooklen: "Mom, I know how I can get bigger like you. When I eat this chip it will go down, down and fill up my foot!"
Maegan: "Mom, you know how your middle finger is a 'swear finger'? Well, is your middle toe a 'swear toe'?
Jordyn: "Mom, when I chew does the top of my head move?"
Brooklen: "You’re welcome I’m sorry I was mean to you." Said to Sean over the phone a couple days after a frustrating visit where she kept throwing tantrums over bubble gum. I busted up laughing when she said this to him. Typical 3 year old that thinks the world revolves around them.
Brooklen: Walking out of a store one night she gasps and says, "Mom, why is the moon cut in half?"
Maegan: After being told over and over that she can't do flips on the trampoline she got a little testy with me and said, "Well then I'm going to join the circus so I can do all the flips I want!" as she is moving her hips side to side.
Brooklen: After getting sprinkled on at the outdoor movie on August 24, 2009 she said, "Mom, the rain is all watery!"
Maegan: Driving on I-15 past Liberty Land she saw the replication of Mt. Rushmore and said, "Look! It's the 3 Muskateers!"
Brooklen: Going to bed one night she said, "Mommy, when the sky wakes up will we wake up too?"
Maegan: The morning of my birthday 2009 she crawled in bed with me. While we where talking she told me that when she grows up she wants to be a "police girl" or a "boss lady at the court." I told her I wanted her to do whatever would make her happy. Then she very excitedly said, "Okay! Then I want to work at a bowling place!"
Brooklen: Whenever the sun gets in her eyes she covers them with her hands and complains, "Mommy, my eyes are hot."
Brooklen: While I was getting ready for work on January 28, 2009 she came to me holding her hands up. Her fingernail polish had worn off and she said, "Please paint my fingers they're broken."
Brooklen: After our busy vacation we overslept on Sunday, July 13, 2008. Brooklen got in bed with me and laid her head on my stomache. It was growling so she sat up and said, "Mommy, tummy crying." She had never heard a stomache growling before and was very concerned.
Maegan: I debated about putting this one up but everyone I have told has laughed, so, here it goes. When we went to the lake on July 5th I bought Ding Dongs. I don't think I have ever bought them before. On Sunday Maegan wanted one but couldn't remember what they were called so she said, "Mommy, can I have a....(pause, with a thinking look on her face) ...a weinie?" Sorry, but that's Maegan for ya! I couldn't stop laughing and told her she couldn't have a weinie but she could have a Ding Dong.
Brooklen: Spinning in circles she say's, "Trillah, trillah, trillah!" Not sure how to spell it or what it means but she enjoys it. Walks around hitting everybody with toys and says, "Hi-yah!" When we are in the car she looks for hotorcycles (motorcycles, pronounced with an H instead of an M) and says, "Here it is!" I think she thinks it's always the same motorcycle. Anything she thinks is interesting she points and says, "Mommy, Looky!"
Maegan: At the luncheon after Jordyn's baptism we were eating sandwiches. Maegan stuck some skewers on both sides of her sandwich and while spinning it in circles said, "Look mom, a sandwich kabob." Oh, apparently I was wrong....Maegan just informed me it was only one skewer stuck all the way through the sandwich.
Maegan: "Mom you're girl trapped!" Brooklen and Maegan were sitting on both sides of me while I was 'blogging'. May, 2008
Jordyn: "Mom, you know how time flies when you fall asleep? Does it go even faster if 3 people are asleep?" Asked while driving to Vernal. March, 2008
Maegan: "Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the stage...." She was trying to say, "Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this day!" Every prayer she said until she was about 5 1/2 years old.
Jordyn: She surprised Sean and I by making a delicious breakfast of bagels with RICOTTA cheese on them instead of CREAM cheese! She was so proud of herself so we ate them. Spring, 2007
Maegan: When she wanted to practice the alphabet she would ask if "we could say the A-B-CD's." Until she started Kindergarten.
Jordyn: "Back it to me, Jordyn", "Turn off the dark (instead of turn on the light!)" She would say these when she was about 2 years old.
